My Journey To Becoming A Therapist

I’m no different from the clients I see. Like everyone else, I’m human. I’ve been been through both wonderful and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am and how I help.

I work with children and teens because I know what it’s like to face challenging situations at that age. As a child, I lacked the confidence and courage to stand up for myself when I really needed to. This created a huge internal struggle where I felt like I was screaming on the inside but quiet on the outside. It doesn’t have to be this way for your child. Therapy can help turn their life around.

My life experiences are what lead me to become the Therapist I am today.

Helping People Is What I Look Forward To Every Day

Being a Therapist is inspiring. I love guiding people towards positive changes and watching their lives flourish. The most rewarding thing about being a Therapist is seeing a person walk away lighter, more free, and excited about their life.

I am committed to guiding you or your child to where things feel manageable again.

I Have A Strong Pull Towards Helping And Bring Supportive And Encouraging Energy To Sessions

I have a natural ability to:

  • Uncover what’s under the surface
  • Explain mental health symptoms in an easy to understand way
  • Inspire hope for getting better
  • Help clients heal their past and manage the present

People who know me often say that I am a good listener who can help people through difficult and stressful times.

Our Sessions Are Focused On You

Sessions will provide you with the space to express your thoughts and feelings. In feeling safe and comfortable, you’ll be able to be yourself and be understood and heard.

It’s important to me to provide a non-judgemental space where you can be yourself and stay open to any feedback and questions you may have. There isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.

As A Therapist, I Embrace The Following Philosophies

  • I believe that you deserve to feel better
  • I believe that sometimes small steps in the right direction end up being the biggest steps in the end
  • I believe that the biggest thing standing in your way is the fear that life always has to be the way that it is now
  • I believe that if we continue to keep working and believing in ourselves we can be in a completely different space sooner than we think
  • I believe that even if we feel like we’ve lost hope, it’s possible to show up, commit to ourselves, and do what it takes to start feeling better

My Professional Background

In 2007, I received my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Edgewood College in Madison, WI. Since then, I’ve been working with children, teens, and adults who are having a difficult time adjusting to life transitions, are worried or anxious, struggle with motivation or finding joy in life, and have current symptoms related to past traumas or significant emotional events. For several years, I worked as an intensive in-home therapist and see great value in working with individuals, children, parents, and families in their home. From there, I transitioned into an outpatient group practice. While working as an outpatient therapist (at an office), I missed the genuine authentic presentation children and some adults had while I was meeting with them in their home. My clients, who were in outpatient therapy, did not need the level of intensity that in-home therapy provided. As an online/virtual/Telehealth therapist, the best of both worlds are combined. I am able to see the authentic presentation of children and parents in their home and can quickly see the struggle points that parents are having with their children.
I am licensed to practice psychotherapy in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. I have specialized training in Brainspotting, Early Childhood Trauma, and Attachment Therapy. I have an accepting, supportive, and non-judgmental approach to therapy.
